Mitsubishi Heat Pumps

Our comprehensive Ecodan range is designed to suit a wide number of applications, from a small flat to a six bedroom house and will cater for the varying requirements of both new build and existing homes (retro fit).

Ecodan - W50 W50 (PUHZ-W50VHA-BS)

The smallest capacity unit in our Ecodan range is the W50 which is 5kW and is perfect for use in new build applications due to their modern day thermal efficiencies. Able to work at variable capacities between 1.5kW and 5.2kW the W50 is ideal for many applications ranging from smaller existing homes or flats to medium sized newly built homes.

Ecodan - W85 W85 (PUHZ-W85VHA2-BS)

Currently the popular unit in our Ecodan range is the W85 which is proving ideal for use in both newly built homes and existing homes too. Able to work at variable capacities between 3kW and 9kW the W85 offers the widest scope to cater for the majority of applications.

Ecodan - HW140 HW140 (PUHZ-HW140VHA/YHA-BS)

Catering for applications with a greater demand for a more powerful unit is the HW140. With the potential to operate between 5kW and 14kW, our most powerful unit is perfectly suited to provide effective heating and hot water for larger, existing homes that do not benefit from the thermal efficiencies of today's homes. This unit is also available as a 3-phase option.

Packaged Cylinder Solutions

To ensure that you get the best performance and enjoy the full range of benefits that Ecodan has to offer, we recommend you install an approved packaged solution. We have carried out extensive research and development to ensure we can maximise Ecodan’s unique performance. To take full advantage of Ecodan, install an approved packaged system that teams Ecodan with the ideal water storage cylinder and perfect control system.

Features and Benefits:

  • Factory assembled for reliability - reduces call-backs and delays.
  • Simplified on site installation - up to 70% quicker to install than third party non pre-assembled systems.
  • Consistent electrical and plumbing layout, with a neat and tidy finish.
  • Plug in connections for all controls.
  • No tanks required in roof space ISO 9001:2008 quality assured.
  • Three year warranty.

There are two options of Packaged Cylinder Solutions:

Mitsubishi Electric Cylinder

Mitsubishi Electric is now manufacturing a stainless steel 200 litre capacity water cylinder designed to work with the Ecodan air source heat pump, which helps to cut installation time by 70% compared to a bare cylinder installation.

The cylinder, manufactured in the ISO 14001/9001 certified Livingston factory in Scotland, (where the 8.5kW Ecodan unit is also made) has been designed with quality and aesthetics in mind.

The cylinder is pre-wired and pre-plumbed, WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) Approved, and includes a large surface area coil, primary circuit and hot water tank expansion vessels, filter, electric booster and immersion heaters and all necessary control and safety valves.

Designed with both the installer and end user in mind, the intention is to provide the market with a product that allows for faster, neater installations with simplified controls. This and the improved appearance of the cylinder and the easy connections at the top, will help maximise reliability and long term savings in running costs.

Mitsubishi Electric is still marketing stand-alone systems but believes that packaged systems are more cost-effective in terms of initial costs and install time.

Flow Temperature Controller (FTC3)

At the core of the Mitsubishi Electric Cylinder and Hydrobox products is the advanced 3rd generation controller (FTC3) which speeds up commissioning and eases operation.

The FTC3 is used in conjunction with the PAR-W30MAA an easy to use, high-end graphical controller with self-learning room temperature control and different access levels for homeowner, installer and maintenance checks.

The third generation controller simplifies the installation and speeds up the commissioning process for the engineer, it makes maintenance easier and gives the homeowner tremendous control over their heating and hot water system.

The system offers an integral 7-day schedule for space heating and domestic hot water, a holiday mode, and is compatible with the Mitsubishi Electric Wireless Controller PAR-WT40R-E

Settings can be altered to suit the property and level of user interaction to give a control system that suits all applications and types of home.

Kingspan Cylinder

Kingspan Cylinder Whilst Mitsubishi Electric offer their own packaged cylinder solution, we also offer a range of packaged cylinders made by Kingspan which work with the Ecodan air source heat pump.

The AEROCYL.me pre-plumbed unvented cylinder enables quick and easy installation of Ecodan into most homes. All the components have been carefully selected to ensure good system efficiency and ease of installation. The packaged cylinder offers a flexible, quick and easy solution to both retrofit and new build installations.

Packaged HydroboxPackaged Hydrobox

Mitsubishi Electric also manufacturers a split or packaged Hydrobox solution (incorporating FTC3 controls) for situations where more flexibility is required. The Hydrobox is due out in October 2011.

The Hydrobox is compatible with a wide range of outdoor units and comes pre-wired and pre-plumbed to expand the heating opportunities to situations with an air conditioning requirement.

Stand Alone Systems

Whilst we recommend using an approved packaged system, Ecodan will also work with most other leading brands of water storage cylinders and controls. The space heating ability will operate in much the same way as with the packaged system, but it’s important to note that the production of hot water may vary. We therefore recommend that careful consideration is given to the specification of the hot water storage cylinder, in order to maintain optimum efficiency of the water heating cycle.

To allow the home owner to continue to operate both their central heating and hot water time clocking using a commonly available two-channel controller, we have introduced the Flow Temperature Controller (FTC2) interface.

In a Space Heating mode the FTC2 will ensure that Ecodan operates at optimum efficiency, varying the flow temperature to either the radiator or under floor heating system to meet a homes heating requirements.

In a Water Heating mode the FTC2 will allow the Ecodan to work with leading brands of water storage tanks. It is, however, important to consider that the overall performance of the system in Water Heating mode will be very dependant on the thermal performance of the storage tank's heat exchanger. With the packaged systems we offer, the heat exchangers have been designed to offer an optimised performance across the whole Ecodan water flow temperature range and these performances have been tested and verified. We therefore strongly recommend that similar consideration is given to the specification of any hot water storage tank before being considered for operation with the Ecodan.
